Brian and Kevin Bowman recently sat down with Ric Tyler and Dan Cashman for an episode of The Ric and Dan Show, a Maine-based business podcast featuring conversations with business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders about their careers, their companies and the experiences that helped shape them.
For nearly four decades, Brian and Kevin have been part of the story of Bowman Constructors. During the episode, they talked about how that story began, the lessons they learned from their father and the experiences that helped shape the company along the way.
A Conversation About Family, Construction and the Business
The conversation covers a lot of ground, beginning with Brian and Kevin’s childhood and the early construction experience that eventually led them into the family business.
They also talked about some of the challenges Bowman Constructors faced over the years, including navigating the recession of the early 1990s, taking on complicated projects and finding ways to keep the company moving forward.
The brothers also discussed what they’ve learned from their father, how those lessons continue to influence the company today and the importance of giving employees opportunities to learn and grow.
Along the way, they shared stories from their years in construction and offered a look at some of the thinking behind the work Bowman does, from general contracting and construction management to design-build projects throughout Maine.
