Location: Newport, ME | Project Type: Design/Build Project

Sebasticook River Apartments

This 24-unit project was developed to serve low-income senior and disabled residents, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and long-term efficiency. Designed as a net-zero building, it meets the certification standards of five national green building and energy efficiency programs. Achieving this level of performance required an exceptionally tight energy envelope, constructed with meticulous attention to detail, along with advanced systems to minimize energy consumption.

Key features include a solar photovoltaic system that generates enough energy to support heating, hot water, and all other domestic needs, as well as full-building mechanical heat recovery units. Additional elements such as electric heating, spray foam insulation, and triple-glazed windows further enhance efficiency and comfort. From initial design through project completion, Bowman Constructors collaborated closely with WBRC Architects-Engineers and a team of green energy specialists to bring this nationally recognized project to life
