The walkway at Seal Cove posed a challenge as the existing structure had rusted away and required full replacement. There was also a narrow access road and the walkway was suspended on the side of a cliff. Budget limitations for the replacement were also a challenge. The engineers concept was to remove paint and refinish the existing steel.
How this challenge was overcome: Bowman Constructors mantainted security fencing and concrete baracades isolating the work in progress. After seeing the existing site, Bowman proposed full galvanization and full replacement of all components. This also elimated the enviornmental hazards of painting the existing structure.
